MH-53E SEA DRAGONThe Sikorsky Sea Dragon is one of the largest helicopters in the world. This modern version of the H-53E allows many types of missions to be performed: Mine sweeping, small craft towing, search and rescue and many more. Three powerful T-64 engines allow this giant helicopter to go fast and hover for a long period of time. It is also an air refueller for many types of aircraft. C-17 Globemaster IIIThe Globemaster III is in service since 1993 as a multi transport aircraft with the United States Air Force. It is a multidisciplinary aircraft that can take up to 76,000 kg of cargo and deliver it anywhere, often on relatively small airfields. It can drop material from the air. Recently, the 349th Air Mobility Wing from Travis AFB participated in the relief effort in Haiti. This magnificent aircraft will land Quebec on June 10th 2010 to position itself for the air show weekend. The aircraft will be open to people for visits. B-52-H SUPERFORTRESSThe B-52 has been flying for more than 55 years. This aircraft was built by Boeing Military Airplane Co. The first flight took place in 1954 with the A model. Of all de 744 built, 94 remains in service as the latest H model. The B-52-H will stay in service until 2040 with all the necessary modernization required. eight (8) engines Pratt & Whitney TF-33 each delivering 17,000 pound of thrust. The special capabilities of this heavy bomber allow him to fly anywhere from just above ground up to 55,000' at a speed as high as 650 mph. KC-135R STRATOTANKERThere is 415 air refueling tankers distribute throughout the world. The initial aircraft was the Boeing 707 in the fifty's. This aircraft is capable of carrying 200,000 pounds of fuel to be transferred. The R model is the most recent one. It has been re-engine some years ago. Figure out 415 X 4 engines!!! The tail boom can transfer fuel to a variety of aircraft, while the wing tips baskets can accommodate other types at the same time. It flies at 530 mph at 30,000'. Other tasks for this venerable aircraft is very much used as a MedEvac aircraft. Specialists of the United Air force Reserve and active forces are available 24/7 to conduct such missions. THE C-5 GalaxyA mammoth of an aircraft. One the biggest aircraft in the world and the largest in the United States Air Forces inventory, built by Lockheed-Georgia in the State of the same name, the B model that will fly up to Quebec City, was born sometime in the 80's. It is powered by 4 TF-39 engines, each developing more than 43,00 pounds of thrust. It can operate in a range of weights from 769,000 to 840,000 pounds on a little more than a 6,000 foot runway. 28 tires take care of distributing the weight of this heavy one. On a mission, the Galaxy can take on board about 135 tons of material to be delivered anywhere on the surface of this planet, with appropriate refueling. Our guest comes from the famous Travis AFB, near San Jose, California. EMBRAER E-190Since 2004 Embraer delivered a passenger transport airplane which is very efficient, fast and modern. With a capacity of 110 passengers, this aircraft is appreciated by the airlines that are on the lookout for passenger comfort, fuel economy and thus preserving the environment. The E-jet series rejects 23% less CO2 in the air than an older aircraft like the B737-500, which represents 1 million tonnes of CO2 per aircraft per year! Capable of reaching a cruising altitude of 41,000 feet at a speed of Mach 0.82 or 1.005 km / h over a distance of over 3,700 kilometres, and capable of using runways that are only 5,200 feet long, the E-190 can take you to more diversified destinations safely, well above the storms. The Embraer E-190 is 118 feet in length, has a wingspan of 94 feet and is powered by two engines GE CF34-10E with 20,000 lbs of thrust each. KC-10 EXTENDERThe KC-10 Extender, is a tanker aircraft in service with the United States Air Force. It is derived from the civilian version of the McDonnell Douglas DC-10. In 1975, this aircraft was selected to fill this role and in 1981 it became operational. The KC-10 can transport troops and cargo as well as a large amount of fuel. In flight, the KC-10 can transfer 4180 litres of fuel per minute through the supply system to its customer! You will have quite a trill of entering and to look around at this amazing aircraft at the Quebec Videotron air show on June 11-12 and 13th. |

CC-177 Globemaster III CanadaCommonly referred to has the C-17, this aircraft is officially designated as the CC-177 by the armed forces of Canada. We have bought 4 of these very useful and unique aircraft. All four are based at squadron 429 at the Trenton air Force base in Ontario. The crews that look after this aircraft can launch very rapidly one of this aircraft for any point on the planet. It can transport heavy cargo, troops and almost anything you can think of. Lots of flight into Afghanistan to assist our military personnel in this far away place, delivering anything they need to perform their duties. Crews have night vision goggles for better acquiring landing zones not properly lighted at night. Among many important missions, this Globemaster III has been very present in the recent Haïti earthquake. They have delivered supply material and brought back civilians to a safer place. CC-150 PolarisThe Armed Forces of Canada operates five Airbus 310-300 (CC-150) Polaris, with crews from transport squadron 437 in Trenton, Ontario. These aircraft have a special role. They carry troops, equipment and food to just about anywhere it is needed. When our Governor General has to go on an official visit, She uses one of the Polaris. Also, our Prime Minister, other high ranking members of Parliament and invited guests do sometime use the Polaris to travel on official functions. Two of these five aircraft are converted into aerial tankers. Therefore, anyone of these two aircraft can accompany up to for CF-188 Hornet on a refuelling mission across the Atlantic, for example. We should be getting one of those tanker for the air show. |
